What to bring on a boat trip in Barcelona
A short and practical list with the clothes, shoes and essentials that will make your boat departure more comfortable from start to finish.
Knowing what to take on a boat ride makes the difference between a comfortable experience and an afternoon thinking about what you forgot. The Mediterranean sun, the breeze and the sailboat movement create conditions different from those of a city tour, but preparing the bag is very simple.
On board clothing and footwear
Choose light, breathable and dry clothes quickly. A swimsuit under a dress, shirt or short pants is handy if the exit includes a swim stop. Even on a sunny day, a thin or windproof layer can come well when the boat moves away from the coast.:
Use flat, clean and outsole shoes that hold well. Avoid heels, platforms and shoes with hard soles that can slip or mark the deck. In some boats the skipper may ask you to peel off.
Sun protection and essential objects
At sea, the reflection of water increases the sun exposure even if the temperature is pleasant. Apply broad spectrum cream before embarking and take it with you to repeat the application. The glasses with fastening and a tight cap protect without risk of flying out with the breeze.
- Water resistant sun cream and lip protector.
- Sunglasses with cord and cap well adjusted.
- Compact toalla and a dry mute if you want to bathe.
- Telephone protected in a cover and personal medication.
- Identity card and confirmation of reservation.
What is best left on the ground
Avoid bulky bags, unnecessary items and rigid luggage. The stowage space is limited and a flexible bag is much easier to store. You also don't need to bring food or drinks without checking what your activity includes first.
If you are sensitive to movement, consult a healthcare professional in advance and place yourself in a ventilated area looking over the horizon. Get rested, avoid heavy meals and stay hydrated also helps.
General guidance only. The route, swimming and navigation always depend on sea conditions and the skipper’s judgement.
