Leaving the harbour changes your view of Barcelona. The busy streets fade into the background, while beaches, buildings and hills become part of one panorama. A short trip can offer clear views of the city; exploring farther along the coast requires more time and suitable conditions. Here is what to consider when choosing a route.
North of Barcelona: following the coastline
Heading north from Port Olímpic, boats first pass the city’s beaches before continuing towards other stretches of the coast. Places such as El Masnou, Premià de Mar and Mataró require enough sailing time and are not part of every departure from Barcelona.
How far a trip can travel depends on its duration and the conditions on the day. The skipper may choose a more sheltered stretch for comfortable sailing or a suitable place for a swim when the sea allows. Discuss the route you have in mind before booking.
South towards Castelldefels and the Garraf
The coastline towards Castelldefels and the Garraf brings together wide beaches, limestone scenery and Mediterranean vegetation. From the sea, you can see how the hills meet the coast beyond the city’s seafront.
Exploring this area calls for a longer trip and planning around the weather. A short skyline sailing trip is a different experience from a full day along the coast, so confirm the intended route and duration with the team.

The Sagrada Família, Montjuïc, Hotel W, the seafront towers and the outline of Collserola take on a different perspective from a boat. The distance from shore helps you see how the city, beaches and hills fit together.
